Weekly Journalling

Do you find your mind filled with:

-       Never ending to-do lists?

-       Worries about what's next?

-       Or maybe lingering doubts from the day?

-       Perhaps even replays of interactions that didn’t quite sit right with you?

It's natural for our brains to fixate on uncertainties and challenges, often leaving positive moments buried/lost.

A simple practice I’ve embraced is weekly journalling! It’s helping me to remember what I’d otherwise forget, pay attention to the small achievements and moments of joy, so really is transforming my perspective on life, interactions and how I feel.

Jotting down the highs of your week will help you capture those moments of joy, gratitude, and achievement that often go unnoticed.

Revisiting these positive memories isn't just a feel-good exercise; it's a pathway to long-term wellbeing. When your mind is filled with positivity, it triggers the release of chemicals that uplift your mood and enhance your overall happiness.

The benefits of journalling extend beyond memory enhancement.  It offers a moment of stillness in our non-stop lives, as we slow down and reflect. It’s like meditation :)

So go on, get a pen and notebook, and let’s get started. Here are some prompts to guide you:

-       Highlight of the Week: Recall one moment from each day that brought a smile to your face. (like me you might be surprised by how little you can remember!)

-       Kind Comments: Note down any compliments or words of encouragement you received throughout the week.

-       Personal Achievements: Celebrate any milestones or goals you reached, no matter how small they may seem.

If you’re new to journalling and unsure about picking up a pen and paper just yet, start with the notes app on your phone. Write the days of the week as subheadings, and list anything that comes to mind from the day. You may initially recall not-so-great things, but challenge yourself to remember something positive. If that's tough, it can be something small, like a pleasant meal, a kind comment, a helpful person, or even a flower you noticed.

As you continue with your practice, you'll begin to notice patterns in how you spend your time and where your priorities lie subconsciously. You’ll start asking yourself whether you’re investing energy into what aligns with your values and aspirations, or if you’re spreading yourself too thin.

By gaining clarity, you'll get to know yourself better. This self-awareness will empower you to make more intentional choices for your time and energy.

Remember, it’s a personal journey, so don't be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you.

Anyway, go for it, don’t feel awkward! Grab your favourite notebook – you never know what you’ll write and what you’ll learn! 📝

In my shop you’ll find a prompt card focused on week to week journalling to support your journey. Good luck and Enjoy :)
